Kindle E-book Reader Only For $139, Amazon Updates

Recently Amazon has announced two new version of its Kindle e-book reader. One of the new device just like another previous model of kindle, but the other one definitely is a new model. Beginning August 27th, Amazon will offer a wi-Fi version of the Kindle pricing for just $139, it took at a similar price point to Barnes & Noble’s Wi-Fi only Nook and Sony’s pocket e-book reader. And the new model will be ready for $189.

Both of the model use the similar E Ink screens as the previous model (and the DX version), even though Amazon has admit that the refresh rate has been enhanced by 20%, while contrast is improved by 50% to match DX. The both model also come with 21% smaller and 15% lighter, and offer an expanded 4GB of internal storage. The battery life also has been improved, the fact that Amazon claims that Kindles can last for up to month with the wireless networking turned off and up to 10 days with the radio on. The new Kindle featured a keyboard layout with tweaked slightly, and has a larger directional pad, and both of model will be available in two colors, White version and a darker graphite.

The first price of Wi-Fi-only version of the kindle has dipped below $150. The price could woo users who have been anticipating the product, but who do not wish to pay $189 for the 3G connectivity. The 3G suppose to serve users who stray outside of their usual Wi-Fi hotspots, but with the enhanced internal memory every user has able to load their desiring content onto the device when they are within range of hotspot. At the end user finally realize the $50 difference maybe worth enough.

The Kindle seems goes monochrome, and it does not look likely that Amazon plan to add a color display to the Kindle sometime near future, and increasing the screen’s refresh rate to support video or animation is not a main priority. CEO Amazon Jeff Bezos says told the Wall Street Journal,

“For the vast majority of books, adding video and animation is not going to be helpful. It is distracting rather than enhancing. You are not going to improve Hemingway by adding video snippets.”

Apple Launches Magic Trackpad, Updated iMacs and Mac Pros

After suffering a downtime issue a couple hours ago, the Apple store is now running well, and – as predicted – it now offers updated iMacs and Mac Pro computers. Aside from that the Apple store has also released an all-new product dubbed the Magic Trackpad.

The new Magic Trackpad is designed to be tandem for your Macintosh desktop computer, and it employs the equal multitouch technology like the MacBook Pro.

It connects with your Mac desktop computers through Bluetooth, and it’s purposed to be the replacement of a mouse, or together with one. It comes as a standalone accessory and sold separately for $69.

The new Magic Trackpad is described by the creator as follows:

“The Magic Trackpad brings the intuitive Multi-Touch gestures of Mac notebook trackpads to the desktop. With its glass surface, the wireless Magic Trackpad enables users to scroll smoothly up and down a page with inertial scrolling, pinch to zoom in and out, rotate an image with their fingertips and swipe three fingers to flip through a collection of web pages or photos. The Magic Trackpad can be configured to support single button or two button commands and supports tap-to-click as well as a physical click.”

On the Mac Pro line, Apple today unleashed a new line which offers 12 processing cores and 50% faster performance than the predecessors. The systems offer the newest quad-core and 6-core Intel Xeon processors, ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics, and a 512 GB SSD (optional). The price begins at 2,499.

And next, we’ve the updated iMac line, the new iMac line has been completely updated with the latest Intel’s Core i3, Core i5 as well as Core i7 processors and new graphics. The iMac updated price begins at $1,199.

And the last we’ve a brand new, 27″ Cinema Display, which offers 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, a perfect tandem for the iMac, if you need a larger display. It also includes built-in MagSafe charging, iSight camera, speakers, as well as 3 USB ports.

Sony Style L80 Mini Laptop available for $299

We already seen a plenty of cheap Sony Vaio P clones in about the last two years or more. But one thing most have in common is that they’re typically to only be available in Asia.

We know, unless a company brave to experience the trouble of shipping them out from Asia — which is really what Shenit.com is doing with the new “Sony Style L80 Mini Laptop.”

Similar to the Sony Vaio P, this newcomer has a compact design thanks at least in piece to the fact that there is no touchpad next to the keyboard.

Instead there is a pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard which you could use to control the on-screen cursor.

While the Sony Vaio P features an 8″ with a 1600 x 768 pixel display, this Sony Style L80 features a bit larger screen. This Sony Vaio P clone has 8.9 inch screen. however there’s no details on the resolution, but we are guessing that Sony Style L80 has a 1024 x 600 pixel display.

The Sony Style L80 is powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, and offers 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage capacity. There are a couple of oddities of the product page. First is the product page said that the Sony Style L80 has a hard drive, however that low 16GB capacity leads us to believe it’s really a solid state disk, instead of hard drive. Another oddity is that the product page says this Sony Vaio P clone has an Intel 945GSE chipset, although most computers that powered by Intel Atom N450 have the newer NM10 chipset.

If those oddities haven’t scared you away, there’s only a good reason to consider putting an order for this Sony Style L80: It’s a lot cheaper compared to the real Sony Vaio P. Sony Style L80 has a price tag of only $299. It’s even cheaper if you order in a massive number. A real Sony Vaio P in other hand, will make you to spend about $900.

An Impressive Motorola Droid X

Motorola Droid X has become an impressive new contender in the emerging kind of large form-factor smartphone with touchscreen feature. Droid X comes with high end hardware specifications and massive 4-inch touchscreen set it apart from the other Motorola’s product lineup. Even though the Android-based device has much similar with HTC EVO 4G, it seems the Droid X succeeds and HTC EVO fell short-by matching a great feature set with all-day battery life.

With a new iteration of Motorola’s custom Android environment Droid X offers integrated social networking functionality. Droid X has excellent power management features and the best support for messaging.

Droid X processor is a TI OMAP 3630, clocked at 1Ghz. There is still a debate about this because the 3630 is a 720Mhz chip and 3640 is the 1Ghz version. Well, I have looking for the answer, and yes, Droid X really does have a 1 Ghz. A documentation describes it as a 3630-1000 providing by Verizon.

It has 512MB of RAM, and 8MP camera with LED flash, and a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that works at 854×480. The Droid X is a CDMA device with support for EVDO, Bluetooth, WiFi. The most compelling hardware advantages over many other device based on Android is that the Droid X has a roomy 8GB of internal storage capacity and no statement on how much of that space that can be used to install software. This will be a bad news for the paltry 512Mb Nexus One or the modest 1GB of EVO 4G.

It seems the Droid X is one level ahead from the EVO, but not quite on the same level with the Nexus One. The device its absolute slim, except for a protrusion at the top of the back side where they placed the camera. Well, I think this is my new smartphone, what about you guys.

Intel Drops prices on some desktop CPUs

While Intel has just started shipping some new products like Core i7-970 six-core processor ($885), the Core i5 760 ($205) and the low-voltage Core i7 870S ($351).

Intel has also slashed the price on some other desktop CPUs, including a big cut in the price of the Core i7-870. The year-old quad-core was priced at $562, but its price was dropped 48% to $294. If you have just bought one with the old price, you’re likely out of luck.

Other price drops include the Core i3 540, which get 12-percent reduction to $117, and the venerable E6600 and E5500 Pentiums, which slashed 11% and 15 % respectively, to $75 and $64.

Instead of getting a reduction, a number of Pentiums have just discontinued, The E6300 , E7400 and Celeron E3200 has been killed off by the company, although the Celeron brand manages to keep alive.

It will be very exciting to see how AMD will answer to their rival movement. Will AMD cut down its prices and try to take over the competition?

Today we got another hands-on review of the HTC EVO 4G, one of the most anticipated device this year and probably one of the best smartphone out there.

HTC EVO 4G operates with Android 2.1 OS enhanced with HTC Sense UI. Sports a large 4.3 inches cinematic touchscreen-display at 800 x 480 pixel resolution, which makes the HTC EVO 4G a perfect portable mediaplayer.

The Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon CPU is snapped under the hood, makes this phone runs really fast. As matter of fact, the HTC EVO 4G can process really fast on most task.

Let’s have a look at the specs below:

Display: 4.3″ capacitive touchscreen display with multi-touch support. 480 x 800 pixel resolution, automatic viewing mode change (portrait – landscape), ambient-light sensor, proximity sensor, and more.

Battery: Replaceable Lithium Ion 1500 mAh, rechargeable.

Today we have a hands-on review video of the newly announced member of Xperia Android handset familiy, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro is basically an X10 Mini (in terms of features and specs) but armed with a slide out QWERTY keyboard, running on Android 1.6 OS with Timescape UI.

Besides the slide-out keyboard, this smartphone packs a 2.5” scratch-resistant QVGA touchscreen display, also a 600MHz Qualcomm CPU, and 5 MP camera on its back with autofocus and geotagging.
